Into the New Year: Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014

2013 is gone, just like that. It's so ridiculous how time flies by without you even realizing. 2013 has passed really quickly for me - the fact that I graduated and already started a full time job within the short period of time still shocks me.

In 2013, I filled a glass jar full of happy things that happened (inspired from Tumblr). Looking back, I really do get to count my blessings and enjoy folds of joy after seeing good through the ugly. Many awful things may have surfaced during the year, but the full glass jar erased them all away.

Here goes:
  1. Dyed my hair Blonde AGAIN 18/01/2013
  2. Bought a new 64GB iPhone 4S 28/01/2013
  3. New home / New room 31/01/2013
  4. FYP presentation 26/02/2013, Submitted MP Final Report 27/02/2013, Submitted FYP Report 22/02/2013 - Marks the freakin' end to Poly life!
  5. Collected transcripts / pre-graduation ceremony in March (can't recall exact date)
  6. Grad trip Brisbane and Gold Coast 23/04 - 05/05/2013
  7. Graduation Ceremony Mid May (can't recall the exact date either) which I didn't attend; Friends and I treated ourselves to a huge meal at IKEA because #YOLO
  8. Graphic Design *temp* job for a deal site (similar to Groupon, etc) 04/06/2013
  9. Started a full-time job at a Law Firm 19/08/2013
  10. Turned freakin' 20 years old 19/08/2013

Not forgetting the awesome dates, food eaten, laughters and every bit of bliss that came along the way. This year, I grew apart from some people, I also had new ones becoming a part of me. No regrets, but I guess it's inevitable while growing up. Things change, people change. Some stay and others, leave.

They will always remain my friends, and play a small role in my life forever, but nothing will ever be the same again - the differences in mindsets and values that we now uphold are on two extreme ends; there's just no way we could ever be as close as we were before. For that, I'll always feel sorry about.

I'm happy the way I am now, though; because for the first time in a long long time, I actually feel free and unrestricted, and un-judged about choices I make, the way I dress, the way I speak. I am ME, and I want to stay this way without having someone (actually more than just one person) telling me what I should or shouldn't do.

Thankful for all my girlfriends and guys who've stuck with me through all the thick and thins. Eternally grateful for them still standing by me despite my flaws and ugliness, for forgiving me even when my words at times cut through their bones, and most importantly, loving me when I can't find any reason to love myself.

Happy 2014 everyone! Wishing you rainbows and happiness all year long :)
