Song I've Been Loving: Life After Happily Ever After

Life after Happily Ever After...?

Hello, May.

Work has been pretty overwhelming. Not in a bad way, I have to say I am quite enjoying what I do every day. I guess it just takes a lot of time to adjust to the new work load and industry.

The last time I ever worked in education was 4 years ago, and it was a 6 month stint as an intern.

I would say I'm happy. I get along with my colleagues and the instructors I work with. Liaising with the Government schools have been quite a pleasure as well.

Hopefully as time goes by, I settle in more and more before I am completely comfortable with my job. I'm optimistic. I hope I am. We are preparing for a huge move to a larger space in 2 weeks (!!) and things are going to be super duper busy.

The past few months has gotten me thinking a lot lately. Questioning every decision that I've made. What if I chose to do things differently? What would my life be like now? Would it be any different? I wouldn't know. We all wouldn't. But then again, what's the point in questioning? We can't turn back time. There's absolutely nothing that we can do to change the past, but we sure can change the future.

What matters most are the decisions we make today. What we choices we take here and now are what determines what will happen later. I've been listening to Life After Happily Ever After by Disney recently.

Apart from it being perfect, because who expects songs from Disney to be anything less than perfect, right? It's also made me question how we tend to be discontented with life. How many times do we end up feeling defeated and depressed because things didn't play out the way we expect them to?

Aside from kicking up a fuss, we end up being unhappy and find no purpose in going on further anymore. But why do we only find content in victories? Shouldn't we be constantly improve on ourselves?

Being alive, being able to change, having the chance to do things right a second time around, isn't that what we should be happy about? What's the purpose in living if you don't live to fight for a better life, for better choices?

Why do we always want things to go exactly the way we envisioned it to be, instead of seeing failures as stepping stones for us to one day achieve greater things? Because let's face it, no one was made a hero by being perfect the first time around. Successful businessmen always have stories about how their vision got rejected and put down countless of times before they finally succeed.

Shouldn't we, then, find content in actually being able to live another day, every day, because that's a chance to make it big one day?

And now that we've gotten the dream that we chose
Now that we're in for the haul
Now our adventures can come to a close
Living happily ever after, after all

Now that I've gotten the dream that I choose
Why does my world feel so small?
If this is it
And it is I suppose
Is this happily ever after, after all?
